What AI is not good at

AI is brilliant. I use it every day in my content strategy and with my clients.

It helps with planning, writing, repurposing, and generating fresh ideas when your brain is fried.

But there’s a line - and knowing where that line is can save you hours of frustration.

Here’s what AI still can’t do (and why you are still the secret sauce in your content).

❌ It Can’t Understand Real Emotion

AI can guess at tone.
It can mimic empathy.
But it hasn’t had your experiences. It doesn’t know what it felt like when that client ghosted you or when your first sale dropped.

⚠️ This means: if you want content that builds real connection, you have to add the emotion.

💡 Tip: Add a quick voice note or journal-style paragraph to your AI prompt when you want a caption to feel more “you.”

❌ It Can’t Read the Room

Trends shift.
Your audience evolves.
You pick up on those changes in DMs, comments, or sales calls - AI can’t.

⚠️ This means: if your engagement feels off, don’t just prompt harder.
Step back and ask, “Is this what my audience actually needs right now?”

❌ It Can’t Replace Your Voice

AI is a mimic - not a mind-reader.
It’ll try to match your tone, but without your phrasing, pace, or personality cues, it’ll always feel a little off.

⚠️ This means: your content needs a final pass from you.
Just 5 minutes of editing can turn robotic to relatable.

❌ It Can’t Strategise for Your Business

AI can suggest content ideas - but it can’t set goals, choose platforms, or prioritise offers based on your real-world data and capacity.

⚠️ This means: you still make the plan.
AI just helps you execute it faster.

✅ So What Should You Use AI For?

Use it to:

  • Draft faster

  • Repurpose content

  • Brainstorm when stuck

  • Break through blank page syndrome

  • Build frameworks, lists, hooks, and outlines

But keep the final creative decisions in your hands.
