Build a Bold, Scroll-Stopping Visual Identity in 3 Steps

Published on 21 May 2025 at 08:00

🧠 You have 3 seconds to stop the scroll. Is your brand doing that?

If your content blends in, feels inconsistent, or looks like it came from five different templates, your visual identity is probably the problem.

But the good news?

You don’t need to hire a branding agency to fix it.
You need a simple, clear visual system that makes your content look bold, recognisable, and confident - every time.

Let’s build it in 3 steps.

Today’s Business Example: A Personal Stylist

You’re helping clients upgrade their wardrobes and show up with confidence. But your own feed looks… busy. Every post uses a different font. Your colours shift week to week. People love your advice, but they wouldn’t recognise your content if your name wasn’t on it.

Let’s change that.

βœ… Step 1: Choose Your Core Visual Elements

Define your visual identity with:

  • One to two fonts (a clean header + readable body font)

  • One primary colour that pops

  • Two to three supporting colours that balance or contrast

  • One graphic element you use regularly (icons, lines, shapes, a texture)

For a stylist: Think sleek serif for elegance, dusty rose or deep navy as your hero colour, and a recurring use of mirror, clothing rack, or texture icons.

βœ… Step 2: Apply Your Style Across Key Formats

Pick your top 3-4 content types, and create a template for each one. For example:

  • Tip or quote card

  • Story highlight covers

  • Carousel post

  • Reels or TikTok cover frame

Use the same fonts, colours, and spacing each time so your content starts to feel like “you” at first glance.

Bonus: You can adjust tone slightly per platform (a little more playful on TikTok, more polished on LinkedIn) while staying recognisable.

βœ… Step 3: Build Your Visual System Into Canva or Adobe Express

  • Save your colours and fonts into your Brand Kit

  • Create and name reusable templates for posts, stories, and promos

  • Stick to your system for at least 30 days - this builds recognition

Your feed should feel cohesive but not repetitive. Bold doesn’t mean loud - it means confident consistency.

🎯 Why This Works

  • Builds trust through consistency

  • Makes your content instantly recognisable

  • Saves time on design decisions

  • Positions your brand as intentional, not improvised

(I'm even taking my own advice from today forward. My graphics have been a bit all over the place while promoting these blogs. My Instagram grid looks like a child has created the graphics. 30 days of template use coming up.)
