Use AI to Plan a Month of Social in Under an Hour

Published on 1 July 2025 at 08:00

Let’s be honest - planning social media content for the whole month can feel like a full-time job (and that’s before you even open Canva).

But it doesn’t have to.

I use AI with my clients and in my own business to turn a few rough ideas into a clear, strategic content plan - in less than an hour.

Today I’m going to walk you through the exact process. Whether you’re using Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, or LinkedIn, this will help you create content with purpose, not panic.

✅ Step 1: Start With 4 Weekly Themes

Break the month into 4 content themes.
These could be based on:

  • Your services or offers

  • A campaign or event

  • Seasonal topics

  • FAQs from clients

Example:

  • Week 1: Tips for beginners

  • Week 2: Behind-the-scenes/process content

  • Week 3: Testimonials or social proof

  • Week 4: Your service and how to work with you

Why it matters: AI works best when it has direction. These weekly themes give your prompts structure.

✅ Step 2: Use AI to Brainstorm Post Ideas

Now that you’ve got your themes, you’ll feed them into AI (ChatGPT or similar) with a targeted prompt:

💬 Try This AI Prompt:

“I’m a [insert your role] helping [insert your niche]. I want to create social media content around the theme: [insert theme].
Please give me 5 post ideas that offer value, show my expertise, and build trust - with a mix of formats like Reels, carousels, captions, or Stories. Tone: Friendly, helpful, confident.”

Run this 4 times - once for each week’s theme - and you’ll walk away with 20+ post ideas tailored to your business.

✅ Step 3: Ask AI to Write First Draft Captions

Take the best ideas and plug them into another prompt:

“Write a social media caption for [insert post idea]. Audience: [describe your ideal client]. Keep the tone friendly and expert, and end with a soft CTA.”

These are your starting points, not final posts - you can tweak the voice and add your own flair later.

✅ Step 4: Turn Your Ideas into a Content Calendar

Now you’ve got:

  • Themes ✅

  • Ideas ✅

  • Captions ✅

Drop them into a calendar. I personally use Google Docs or Notion to map out:

  • What’s posting when

  • Where (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)

  • What format (video, carousel, text)

From zero to fully planned in under 60 minutes - no burnout, no overthinking.
